I might be pregnant but Im not sure. I am traveling to China for work in 3 weeks (so i would be like 6 weeks prego). Is it safe to travel?

First off, get the pregnancy confirmed. You can use a Home Pregnancy Test like EPT, but your best bet would be to go to the doctor to get a conclusive result. Once you’ve gotten it confirmed with your doctor, you’d be best off talking to them about whether or not it would be safe to travel…
My opinion, though (and I’m not a doctor or anything, so bear in mind this is just an opinion): China’s a pretty safe country in terms of travel, you just need to make sure you take any common sense precautions: be careful with the foods that you eat, make sure you only drink bottled or well-boiled water, etc. Dress appropriately for the climate so you don’t get sick. Your doctor will also be able to tell you about any health precautions you might have to take in anticipation of your trip.
In terms of your body – 6 weeks preg. & travelling may not be most ideal. Not because it’s bad for your baby necessarily, but for a couple reasons: 1) especially if it’s your first pregnancy, your doctor’s going to want you nearby to do some tests and stuff. It depends on your health, conditions, etc. You’d just need to make sure, depending on the duration of your trip, that you wouldn’t be pushing any of these tests out of their required window of completion. 2) You may not feel at your optimal best for travelling. I happen to be in my 8th week now and I feel like I could just spend the whole day in bed curled up under the covers. It’s a chore just to get out of bed, get ready, and drive 45 minutes to come into work. Your body’s probably going to feel worn out, you’ll need more naps (and the jet lag factor won’t help), you may feel naseous (and I grew up in Taiwan, so let me tell you from experience that some of those foodsmells may make you naseous even if you’re NOT pregnant – like stinky tofu. Ugh! icon smile Is it safe to travel to China in the beginning of pregnancy? ). I’ve been told your second trimester is actually best if you want to travel somewhere (I’m actually planning a trip to India in my 6th month) – you supposedly feel less "ill" at that time. But I do understand that because this trip is for work, you may not be able to reschedule it.
Anyways, I know this is a lot of info, but I hope it’s helped. Like I said, though – best course of action is definitely to check with your doctor and find out their advice for the trip.

I am planning to visit China but then started reading some of the diseases that I could be exposed to and the vaccinations I would need. I am currently experiencing a low white blood cell count for reasons that aren’t clear.

Would I be ill-advised to travel to China whilst I have it ?
(Several Dr’s have been trying to figure out my low white blood count for a few l years. Its not any of the obvious things. They have no idea. It is in a ‘monitor’ state right now).

Best to consult a Dr on that. Depending on how low, I’d advise against it. Just the flying alone could be problematic…

what is the easiest way to travel in China?

I need to go from England to Hangzhou in China in September and I don’t know the best (cheapest, safest) way to do it. I’m female and I’ll be travelling alone with my six month old son.

It seems like it might be easier to get a flight to Hong Kong and then travel to Hangzhou from Hong Kong but I’d welcome any advice anyone has on this?
      thanks

fly to Shangahi, after that take a bus or train to Hangzhou, that will be the easiest way

I am finishing a job as an ESL teacher in china and I am planing to travel for about a month sight seeing before going back to the states. I don’t want to carry around this giant suitcase full of clothes and I am leaving through Beijing. Is there a way for me to send it to Beijing and have it stored while I travel? Please keep in mind I don’t speak Chinese and know only a few of my students here.

There isnt any easy way to do this if you do not speak English. If you had a hotel room, you could do it.. You could leave it in a train station locker.. But it depends on how valuable the things are.. Take out the important things fill it with non essentials and leave it at a train station for pickup later.. They will give you a ticket.. DO NOT FREAKING LOSE THE TICKET!!!!

Take a photo of your luggage so that you can show them when you return to claim it.

Explain to them you will pick it up again in however many weeks.

Ask for a rate.. Maybe you can negotiate a better deal..

Make sure you know the daily reate for your storage.. And that there are no hidden fees for storing it longer..

        Good luck!

How to apply for a passport to travel to China?

I am going to Beijing, how to apply for a passport to travel to China?

I am Chinese and American so I know a lot about this trouble my mom and dad used to have the same troubles when they had to do that. What I did was I went to my local post office and there should be someone that takes care of passports. If there isn’t then go to a government office or a place where you got or know you can get a American passport and ask them about it. I had to help my parents with their English when they needed to make their passport and I am only 12 and I had to help them when I was 11 so I am sure my answer is correct. Also if you live near Washington D.C. there is a office where you make passports for anywhere you are traveling to. Right now I am living in China visiting my family and relatives. So if you have any questions you can email me if you want my email is alanhuang1995@gmail.com. If you Thank You me I will say NP(No problem)

Looking for a RELIABLE travel company that offers tours of China, preferably (very very preferably) one that has airfare (and the like) included.

I’ve been going back and forth for eight years. I always get my tickets and Chinese visa from http://z-visa.com

The tickets have restrictions, but you cant find cheaper prices anywhere. They must have an excellent wholesaler.

I am studying abroad in Beijing, China for a semester and plan to travel around the country for a month after. I was wondering what would be the best way to manage my money while abroad. Would a prepaid travel card (Travelex or ARC) or traveler’s check, or just a debit card connected to my account be best? Also would mastercard or visa be a better choice?

Credit cards are gaining ground in China, with Visa, MasterCard, American Express (branches in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Xiamen), JCB and Diners Club the most common. Cards can be used in most mid to top-range hotels, Friendship and department stores, but cannot be used to finance your transportation costs. Cash advances can be made at head branches of the Bank of China (4% commission). Tipping is not really expected in mainland China – but bargaining is definitely OK. You can bargain in shops, street stalls, and hotels – but not in large stores.
ATMs that accept foreign cards are few and far between. Do not rely on them as a way of obtaining cash in Mainland China.

Consult with your bank before departing to make sure that your brand of cheque or credit card will be accepted.
